How to Get Ajax Tickets: A UK Fan's Honest Guide

By the Away Days Europe team · Published

Club pages:AFC AjaxTicket difficulty 5 of 5: Very hard

Amsterdam is about the easiest football weekend you can plan from the UK, and Ajax is one of the hardest tickets on it. The club says 42,000 fans renewed their season tickets and there are no new season tickets for 2026/27 (Ajax ticket sales). Everyone else fights over what's left. If you're wondering how to get Ajax tickets as a UK fan, the short version is this: make a verified Ajax account, get the €5 Club Card, be ready the minute your sales phase opens, and if that fails, live on the official Ajax Resale. Everything below comes from Ajax's own website, checked on 21 October 2026. Most of it is in Dutch, so where we quote, it's our translation.

For the overall difficulty rating and how Ajax compares with other clubs, see our Ajax club page.

How Ajax actually sell tickets

Step one: a verified Ajax account (no exceptions)

Ajax's Eredivisie ticket page says you need a verified account for every match, and that making one is free (Eredivisie ticket sales). Verifying is a separate step from signing up. According to the club, you can verify in one of two ways (mobile tickets & verification):

  • iDIN, which goes through a Dutch bank. No use to most of us.
  • An identity document, only in the Ajax app: log in, tap your account, choose "identificeer jezelf" (identify yourself), pick the document type and follow the steps.

The club's page doesn't say which documents it accepts, so we can't promise a UK passport or driving licence will go through. Do it weeks before you need it. If it fails, ask Ajax Fancare.

Your account is strictly personal. Ajax says sharing your login, letting someone else buy through your account, or sending screenshots of tickets breaks its terms, and could get your tickets blocked or your buying rights taken away (your account, your responsibility). So if four of you are going, all four need your own verified accounts. No "I'll just log in for you" either.

Step two: the Ajax Club Card (€5)

This is the bit that matters most. The Club Card costs €5 for 2026/27 and, according to the club, gives you access to almost all home ticket sales, depending on availability, plus priority over the general sale (Club Card). Some games are Club Card only: when we checked, two of the four league home games listed for the rest of 2026 needed one (Eredivisie ticket sales). For one batch of games earlier in 2026, the club said the Club Card had to be applied for before a set date to count (January 2026 sale info), so don't leave it until the week of the sale.

The conditions, from the club (Club Card):

  • Your account has to be verified.
  • You can't already have a season ticket or a Supportersvereniging Ajax membership (those already come with the same perks).
  • You can't hold a Club Card or membership at another Eredivisie or Keuken Kampioen Divisie club. Already got a Club Card at another Dutch club from a previous trip? You'd have to cancel it first, and the club says that can take 5 to 10 working days.

Ajax also warns that processing a Club Card application "can take some time" (Eredivisie ticket sales). For a fiver, it's the best value in this whole guide.

The sales phases: who goes first

Ajax sell league tickets in batches of several home games, once the kick-off times are announced. Going by the club's 2026/27 sale announcements, the order runs like this (sale info, September 2026; sale info, July 2026):

  1. Season-ticket holders buy extra tickets first, from 10:00 on day one (in the latest batch, one per season ticket, maximum two per account).
  2. Supportersvereniging Ajax members (the official supporters' association) next, usually the following day, from 10:00, usually two tickets per game.
  3. Club Card holders after that, usually the next day. In the September 2026 batch, that was two tickets per game.
  4. Everyone with a verified account, a day or a few days later, but only for games that aren't Club Card only, and only if anything is left.

In the 2026 batches, the whole thing ran over four days to a week. 10:00 in Amsterdam is 09:00 UK time, so set an alarm before you've had a brew. Ajax also says it caps how many tickets each account can buy for some games, and it has scrapped the "Friends & Family" option because of touting (sale info, July 2026).

The supporters' association sits ahead of Club Card holders in the queue (Ajax tickets). You sign up through Ajaxlife.nl. The membership price and conditions aren't on ajax.nl, so we haven't included them here.

How fast does it go? When we checked on 21 October 2026, the single-ticket sale was sold out for three of the four league home games listed for the rest of 2026. The fourth showed "last tickets" on the English page (Eredivisie ticket sales). That tells you most of what you need to know.

Ajax Resale: your realistic route in

This is where most UK fans without a lucky sale will end up. Ajax Resale is the club's official platform for buying and selling tickets. Season-ticket holders and fans who bought single tickets can list their seats there, and the club says it puts tickets back on sale for games that were sold out (Ajax Resale; Eredivisie ticket sales).

The key rules, straight from the club:

  • Where to look: in the official Ajax Ticketshop, per match (Ajax Resale). The Eredivisie page shows whether Resale is open for each game. When we checked, it was open for some games and marked "later this season" for others (Eredivisie ticket sales).
  • Price: Ajax sets the resale price (Resale terms, art. 4.1). We couldn't find the price buyers pay, or any buyer's fee, on the club's pages, so check the Ticketshop. (Sellers get 85% of what they originally paid, if that helps you judge it.)
  • Timing: sellers can list a ticket until 2.5 hours before kick-off (Ajax Resale). So seats can turn up right until match day. Keep refreshing.
  • Not every seat is on it: family section, disabled and Ziggo Priority tickets are excluded (Ajax Resale), and so are seats in the main stand, sections 101 to 110 (Resale terms, art. 3.1).

For European home games, the club says resale tickets come up after the single-ticket sale, for fans "with the right buying rights" (Conference League tickets). It doesn't spell out who that covers.

Mobile tickets and sharing

Tickets show up as mobile tickets in the Ajax app no later than a week before the match. They can be shared with other registered fans in the app a maximum of three times (Eredivisie ticket sales). Ajax says a screenshot or photo of a QR code is not a valid ticket, and you can be refused entry if you show one (your account, your responsibility). Get the app sorted and your phone charged.

Is there a box office on the day?

Don't fly out banking on one. Ajax calls its Ticketshop the only official sales channel (sale info, July 2026). There is a stadium desk (the "Stadionkassa") opposite entrance West D, but the club describes it as opening 2 hours before kick-off to help with your match visit, not as a place to buy tickets (Johan Cruijff ArenA info). We found nothing on the club's site about tickets on sale there.

Steer well clear of touts

Ajax is blunt about this. It says tickets sold through unofficial channels get blocked, sellers face a national stadium ban of at least 18 months and a €450 fine, and buyers risk blocked or fake tickets and usually won't get their money back. It names Marktplaats, Viagogo and StubHub as sites where touted tickets show up (black market resale). Under the Dutch FA's (KNVB) standard terms, which the club quotes on the same page, you can't resell a ticket outside your private circle or for more than you paid. Some bloke on a forum with "two seats, F-side, trust me" is not your mate.

How much are Ajax tickets?

Here's the honest answer: Ajax doesn't publish a price list for single Eredivisie tickets on any of the official pages we checked on 21 October 2026. The prices only show in the Ticketshop, per match, once you're logged in. So we're not going to guess. Check the Ticketshop when your sale opens.

What the club does publish:

  • Club Card: €5 for the 2026/27 season (Club Card).
  • Family section: children up to 13 get 40% off their ticket (family section).
  • Season tickets: there are no new ones for 2026/27 (Ajax ticket sales).

Where to sit (and where you can't)

  • F-side: the famous Ajax end is on the first ring on the south side, sections 125 to 129 and 025 to 029. It has safe standing with a rail on every row, and you can stand where you like. In the Eredivisie it's completely taken by season-ticket holders, and the waiting list is closed (F-side). For European home games, the club's Conference League page lists F-side tickets separately, and some showed as available when we checked (Conference League tickets).
  • Family section (Familievak): sections 424 and 425, for selected games only. You have to buy with the verified account of a child aged 13 or under: one discounted child ticket plus one adult ticket, with an extra child and/or adult ticket optional (family section). It's a solid option if you're bringing the kids.
  • Everywhere else: you get what the shop gives you. The Ticketshop is the only place where we could find which sections are on sale. Section numbers are on the club's stadium map (PDF).

Away fans: ajax.nl doesn't say which sections the away fans get, so we're not going to guess. If you're following your own club to Amsterdam, your route is your own club's away allocation. Ajax says Dutch clubs register each buyer's identity and, where needed, which club they support, and that fans can only buy tickets for the sections meant for supporters of that club (black market resale). In plain English: buying in a home section through Ajax means sitting with the Ajax fans, so behave accordingly.

Hospitality and packages

Ajax runs "Visit Ajax" packages that include match tickets. The options are a hotel-and-stadium package (two seats among regular fans, a matchday tour, a night at the Jaz in the City hotel next to the stadium) and a Premium Seats package (second-tier seats on the halfway line plus the tour). When we checked, the page said the packages were no longer available for this season, and you could register your interest for next season (Visit Ajax packages). It's legit and it skips the sales phases, but it isn't on sale right now and the club doesn't show a price.

What UK fans should realistically do

  1. Make and verify your Ajax account now, in the app, with your ID. Get your mates to do the same. Everyone needs their own.
  2. Buy the €5 Club Card well before the sale you're after. It can take time to process, and some games are Club Card only.
  3. Watch for the sale announcement on the club's Eredivisie ticket page. Batches go on sale once kick-off times are fixed, and the Club Card day opens two or three days after the season-ticket holders' day.
  4. Be online at 09:00 UK time (10:00 in Amsterdam) when your phase opens.
  5. Missed out? Work Ajax Resale. Sellers can list until 2.5 hours before kick-off.
  6. Book cancellable travel and accommodation until the ticket is in your app.
  7. Ignore unofficial resellers. Ajax blocks touted tickets and you'll probably lose your money.

If Amsterdam falls through, have a look at the Eredivisie overview. For other famously hard tickets, see how to get Dortmund tickets and how to get Bayern Munich tickets, and compare every club on the ticket difficulty leaderboard.

Getting to the Johan Cruijff ArenA (briefly)

From the UK, it's a short hop to Amsterdam, with plenty of flights from airports around the country, and you can do it by train if you'd rather. We haven't checked specific routes or fares, so shop around. The stadium is in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Ajax says to use the station nearest your entrance: Strandvliet ArenA or NS Duivendrecht for entrances A, B, C, D, E and K, and Bijlmer ArenA for entrances E, F, G, H, J and M. It points you to 9292.nl for journey planning (travel and transport).

Matchday basics, from the club (Johan Cruijff ArenA info):

  • The stadium opens 1.5 hours before kick-off.
  • No bags bigger than A4, and there's no storage inside. There are lockers around the stadium (Lockerpoint), but there aren't many, so travel light.
  • Inside it's card or phone payment only, so no cash.
  • Ajax Fancare is on chat, WhatsApp and X from 3 hours before kick-off if your ticket plays up.

Can't get a match ticket at all? You can still get inside the stadium. Ajax runs stadium tours from €27.50 (self-guided, ages 13+), €38 (guided, 13+) or €62 (VIP, 13+), with cheaper child prices and under-5s free, as listed on 21 October 2026 (stadium tours). Stadium tour and Amsterdam things-to-do links are in the box further down this page.

The verdict: how hard is it?

Very hard. Without a verified account and a Club Card, an ordinary league game is close to a no-go: by the time the general sale comes around, most games are sold out, and some never reach it at all. With the €5 Club Card, an alarm set for 09:00 and some stubbornness on Ajax Resale, you've got a fighting chance. Just don't book anything non-refundable until the ticket's in your app. When it all comes good, a night at the ArenA with a weekend in Amsterdam around it is hard to beat.
