How to Get SC Freiburg Tickets as a UK Fan or Tourist
By the Away Days Europe team · Published
Freiburg is a cracking weekend: a Black Forest city, a 34,700-capacity ground and a proper standing end. Getting in is the hard bit. Every home game goes to members first, for at least a week, and a game only reaches the public if tickets are left over. So for most league games the honest answer to "can I just buy one?" is no.
This guide covers how to get Freiburg tickets the official way, for UK fans and anyone else visiting: how the sale phases work, what membership costs and how long it takes, the official resale, where the standing is and the ground rules that can catch you out. Everything comes from SC Freiburg's own site, scfreiburg.com, checked on 28 October 2026. For the quick version and the difficulty score, see our SC Freiburg club page. Weighing up Germany? We've also done how to get Dortmund tickets and how to get Bayern Munich tickets, and the rest of the Bundesliga is a click away.
How SC Freiburg actually sells tickets
One official shop, plus a call centre
Home tickets are sold in the club's online ticket shop (you'll need a valid email address) or through the ticket call centre on 0761-88849996, run by Reservix, Monday to Friday 9:00–18:00, with fees on top (home tickets page). That's German time, an hour ahead of the UK. The club doesn't take orders by email, fax or letter. There's a short English summary of the rules on the club's English ticket page, but the detail is in German.
Group orders aren't possible at the Europa-Park Stadion, and the club doesn't sell vouchers (ticket FAQ). Once bought, tickets can't be returned (home tickets page).
The sale phases: who goes first
The club runs four phases (sale phases overview, PDF):
- Joker phase: sale day, 09:30–11:00, for members who joined by 1 July.
- Members' presale: all members, from 12:00 on the same day.
- Ticketzweitmarkt (official resale): opens 10 days before the game at 12:00, for members or all SC fans depending on the phase the club announces.
- Free sale (freier Vorverkauf): for all SC fans, depending on availability.
Members of SC Freiburg, and of the Förderverein Freiburger Fußballschule (the football school's supporters' association), get an exclusive buying right of at least one week for every home game. That only counts for members aged 6 or over, and members are told about each sale by email (home tickets page).
The Joker is a one-off: each member can use it once a season. Book in one Joker phase and you're out of the later ones that season, even if you sell the ticket on, and an unused Joker doesn't carry over to next season (ticket FAQ). Since 2026/27 several games can go on sale at once, and the Joker can be used across a bundled phase (club news, 21 July 2026).
Free sale: the only door for non-members
The free sale always comes after the members' window, and only if there's capacity left. The club announces it through its Ticketnews newsletter (home tickets page), so sign up to that before anything else. The club's own wording for 2026/27 is blunt: for games with very high demand there probably won't be a free sale at all, and for games with normal demand it runs as announced (club news).
When we checked the shop listings on 28 October 2026, a cup home game was in free sale, while the league and European home games listed were still in the members' presale. Cup games are worth watching.
The Ticketzweitmarkt (official resale)
This is SC's own resale. Tickets turn up in the shop's stadium plan from 10 days before the game, at 12:00, and the market runs until kick-off. If day 10 lands on a weekend or holiday, it opens at 12:00 on the next working day (sale phases PDF). It follows the DFL's fair-play rules and the club guarantees the deal. Buyers pay a 15% service fee, capped at €5 a ticket, and a ticket bought here can't be resold again (resale page, ticket FAQ).
The catch for visitors: in a high-demand game the resale is for members. For normal-demand games, the club opens it to all SC fans (club news).
Steer well clear of touts
Private resale is only allowed for non-commercial reasons. The club bans selling on eBay, viagogo and seatwave, selling above face value (a mark-up of up to 10% is allowed to cover transaction costs) and regular or bulk reselling (ticket FAQ). If a site is selling Freiburg tickets at silly money, it's breaking the club's rules, and you're the one standing outside if it goes wrong.
SC Freiburg membership: what it costs and is it worth it?
SC has more than 85,000 members. Membership costs €20 a year up to and including age 24, and €40 a year from 25 (membership page). The full price list (membership prices, PDF):
| Age | Price |
|---|---|
| Up to 5 (Füchsleclub) | €11 one-off joining fee |
| 6–12 | €11 joining fee plus €20 per season |
| 13–24 | €20 per season |
| 25+ | €40 per season |
Adults (18+) apply online. Under-18s use a separate form (membership page). We didn't see any rule on the club's membership pages limiting who can join by country.
The small print matters more than the price:
- It's not instant. You can't join today and buy tomorrow. You can only buy in the members' presale once your membership card has arrived, and only while tickets last. The club gives processing time as about three to four weeks on its membership page and about three to six weeks in its membership FAQ. Plan on six.
- Two tickets each. Every paying member can buy up to two tickets in the members' presale or Joker phase (membership FAQ). Going as four? You need two members.
- The club year runs 1 July to 30 June. Join mid-season and you pay the full year. Memberships taken out from 1 May start on 1 July. And if you join after 1 July 2026, you only get Joker rights from 1 July 2027 (membership page).
- It rolls over. Membership renews automatically and isn't transferable. To cancel, write in with three months' notice before 30 June, and there are no refunds (membership FAQ).
There's also the Förderverein (the football school's supporters' association): €20 a year plus a voluntary donation, which gives a pre-emption right for Bundesliga home and away games (membership FAQ). Full SC membership covers all home and away games (membership page).
Season tickets (Dauerkarten) aren't an option for 2026/27: the club says the deadlines are over (season tickets page).
Is it worth it? If you want a league game, yes, realistically it's the price of entry: €40 for an adult, sorted six weeks before you need it. It doesn't guarantee a ticket, but without it you're relying on a free sale that may never come.
How much are SC Freiburg tickets?
The club doesn't publish a day-ticket price list on scfreiburg.com. When we checked on 28 October 2026, prices were only shown in the ticket shop for each game, and we couldn't find a published list on the club site. So check the club site's ticket shop for your game.
The prices the club does publish:
- Resale fee: 15% on top, capped at €5 a ticket (resale page).
- Call centre: fees on top of the ticket price (home tickets page).
- Lap ticket (Schoßkarte): kids up to and including 5 can go into seated areas on the lap of an adult with a seat ticket. It's a €3 service fee on the day at the ground, with proof of age, and there's no seat and no access to standing areas (home tickets page).
- Reduced tickets: bring proof (a student card, for example) on the day. Hand a reduced ticket to someone who isn't eligible and they pay the difference plus a fee (home tickets page).
The good news: your match ticket doubles as a travel pass (more below).
Where to sit (and where to stand)
The Europa-Park Stadion holds 34,700 (stadium page). The club's stadium plans page lays it out (stadium plans):
- Südtribüne (south stand): the big single-tier "Fanwand". Blocks S, C and F are standing. Blocks E and V are seated.
- Nordtribüne (north stand): more home standing in N1 and N2. The away area is up here too (below).
- Westtribüne (Haupttribüne, the main stand): business seats in W4/W5 and W13–W16, plus the fan shop, offices and press.
- Block names: in the North, East and West stands, one digit means the lower tier and two digits mean the upper tier. So W4 is down low and W14 is up top.
- Accessibility: places for fans with limited mobility are at ground level in the lower tier. Places for visually impaired and severely disabled fans are in O7, near the south-east entrance.
Standing: if you want to stand, it's the Südtribüne blocks S, C or F, or N1/N2. Watch the shirt rules: you can't go into home standing areas in away colours, and on the Südtribüne, standing and seated, only neutral or SC clothing is allowed (stadium rules). If you're a neutral, leave your own club's shirt at the hotel.
Away fans: the away area (Gastbereich) is blocks N5–N7 and N15–N17 in the north stand, and the club can shrink it and turn part of it over to home fans when away demand is low (stadium plans). It's for neutral clothing or away colours only (guests page). Following your own team? Buy through your own club. If away tickets get handed back, a Gästekasse (away ticket window) opens at the away entrance two hours before kick-off and sells what's left (home tickets page).
A few ground rules worth knowing (guests page, stadium rules):
- Doors open two hours before kick-off.
- Bags up to A3 size are allowed. There's a bag drop, but it's very limited and costs €2.
- Banned: glass, cans, alcohol, pyrotechnics and selfie sticks, among others. Soft drinks are only allowed in Tetra Paks of up to 0.5 litres.
- Drink: over 1.1 per mille and you're refused entry. Go steady in the Altstadt beforehand.
- Smoking: not allowed on any seats.
- Cash: the food and drink stands take cash, so bring some euros.
What UK fans should realistically do
- Sign up to the Ticketnews newsletter today. It's how the club tells you about free sales.
- Want a league game? Join. €40 for an adult, and allow up to six weeks for the card. One member gets two tickets.
- Check the shop when your game is announced. Members get an email when the sale opens. Be online at 12:00 German time (11:00 UK) on sale day.
- No membership? Target a cup game and watch for the free sale.
- Sold out? Try the Ticketzweitmarkt from 10 days before, at 12:00, and keep checking until kick-off. You'll only get in as a non-member if the club opens it to all fans.
- Standing? Wear neutral or SC colours on the Südtribüne.
- Never buy from touts or ticket sites. The club bans it, and it's your trip on the line.
Getting to the Europa-Park Stadion (briefly)
Your ticket includes public transport on all RVF lines across the network, from five hours before kick-off until 3am the next day. Carry the original ticket. Print-at-home tickets come with extra conditions for travel, so read yours (home tickets page, getting there). There are direct tram and train links, with extra services on matchdays. The stadium's paid car parks can only be booked in advance through the ticket shop, and parking goes on sale in the regular members' presale, so don't plan on driving. Spaces for wheelchair users on P3 need no parking ticket. There are 3,700 bike spaces, and an SC-Mobil shuttle runs from the "Europa-Park Stadion" tram stop to entrance E1 for fans with limited mobility.
Ticket questions go to the club on 0761-38551-777 or [email protected] (home tickets page). The stadium's ticket windows open two hours before kick-off (ticket FAQ).
Plan B for a quiet weekend: SC's women's and U23 teams play at the old Dreisamstadion, which has its own ticket shop (ticket offers page).
The verdict: how hard is it?
Tricky. Without a membership, an ordinary league game is close to a no-go: members get every game first and the club itself says high-demand games probably won't reach free sale. With a €40 membership sorted well in advance, quick fingers at 12:00 on sale day and a mate who's also a member, you've got a real chance. Cup games are the best bet for non-members. Get it right and you're on the Südtribüne for the weekend.
